replacing the present Mandrake 9.1
Feb 28th, 2004, 10:49am

Mandrake 9.1 has become corrupted on my computer and I need to reload it. I was wondering, do I need to delete the present install or can I place a new install over it to repair the bad or corrupt portions? ???

Mandrake can probably fix it during the install, but just to be safe, I'd backup the important stuff like /home and maybe /etc and then wipe it and start again.

are you using a jornaled filesystem like EXT3 or reiserFS?
if so then I'm wondering how you got the filesystem corrupted. I have been running ReiserFS partitions since mandrake 7.2 and never had that problem.

Also, Mandrake 9.2 has been out for ages now, and 10.00 is already on its second release canditate. (and so will be released in the next week or so.)

perhaps you should try a newer distro.. I have had great experiances with mdk9.2, and its what I am running dual boot on my laptop.
