Knoppix Linux (debian
Jan 20th, 2006, 10:17am

I have been out of Linux for several years forgot most of what I did know.  Right now I do not want to install Linux on a hard drive. Shortly I will.  But I have searched google and found many good things and forums but no answer to this question
When Knoppix starts up it runs through the usual startup items and final comes up with this line:
root@tty1[/]1#
what do  I type after the pound sign????
Ed
I saved a lot of lessons from Franki, but this is not covered, probably because it is debian and Franki is a MANDRAKE man.

root@tty1[/]1#

seems to be a command line. I tried some old Mandrake commands and most worked. I typed in following the # mc and sure enough Midnight Commander opened, but I had forgotten how to get around in it. Did manage to close it. So now I am going to put Mandrake on another hard drive but in the meantime I will continue to play with Knoppix
