The second script to be released as an HTMLfixIT advanced script is the "PayPal IPN script" as it's one of the most useful scripts we have.

Here is a list of the features that you get with our IPN script.

• Will not allow a transaction with a paypal ID that has been used before. (security feature)
• Verifies that the payment was to your paypal account in order to stop funny business (security feature)
• Sends different emails based on pending (uncleared funds) or successful (cleared funds) payments.
• Logs all transaction information, be it failed, successful, pending etc.
• Collects a list of the email address's of each payer, (unique address's only) so you can do mailouts to your clients easily.
• Sends you a notification email when you receive a cleared payment.
• Contains working but disabled sample code to show how you can modify the script to react differently to different products you sell.
  (For example you can use it as we do, to send out the scripts we sell, and the files that get sent match what was purchased.)
• Simply coded and easy to modify and enhance to suit widely varying needs.

Requirements

• a reasonably modern Perl installation on your server, 5.6 or above is best, but anything over 5.005 should be fine. (I have yet to find any hosts still using a Perl older then 5.005.)
• A PayPal account that you enable IPN on once your script is installed.
• a fair bit of patience.
• 3 cups of coffee. (2 if you are a quick study :-)
