An article on C-Net talks about kids using proxie servers set up on thier home computers to outsmart the filters at their school. This is not particularly difficult. One school has apparently reacted by banning any site that uses the word blog! Wow now that is overreaching. Glad my kid doesn’t go to school there.

I wish I had a xyle scope! I was reading today how Mike over at MikeIndustries.com spiffied up a myspace page. He used his “xyle scope” that allowed him to look under the hood. Now I have parts of this functionality thanks to my Web Developer extension in Firefox, but it appeared as though this might just be slicker. Unfortunately I swore off any hope of a Mac after they mistreated me a few months ago with my daughter’s new but not working right i-Pod. To think that I had to use up my free consultation … without them asking me if I wanted to … to fix a problem that the item shipped with. Jerks!

What exactly is that? If you read the announcement and find anything understandable, let alone consumer friendly in it, please explain to me what that might be. I am guessing that the concept is simple. If you try to make a claim, you get a blue screen, end of coverage, end of story, sorry.

Funny site. Tell it a bit about yourself and it tells you your famous last words. Mine seemed suprisingly accurate: “I can pass this guy!”

There is a clever little program that tests sites for safety and puts a green checkmark or a red one in the search engine against the site url so that you are warned even before going to it. There is a version for IE and Firefox take a look at Siteadvisor.com I’m trying it out and at the moment its free .

Does anybody else think it odd that a not found page at google displays the word “Google” in text instead of the companies logo? It uses this:
Google

By coding as follows:
<font face=times color=#0039b6 size=10>G</font><font face=times color=#c41200 size=10>o</font><font face=times color=#f3c518 size=10>o</font><font face=times color=#0039b6 size=10>g</font><font face=times color=#30a72f size=10>l</font><font face=times color=#c41200 size=10>e</font>&nbsp;&nbsp;</b>

It is not even CSS. What is with those guys?

Worse yet, it is not even a link back to Google’s main page.
