We do use a gmail account on occaision around here to conveniently store things we made need later from a remote location and don’t want to store. Gmail seems to be the most stable at this time of the common ones. It also is quite generous on storage space. If you need a gmail invite, email us at: the admins at htmlfixit dot com (without the spaces). We would be happy to share one.
Recently I heard a story of someone who had a domain name and used a hotmail account for the contact address. They failed to log in with sufficient frequency to maintain the email address, and it was then registered by another person who … got the domain name renewal switched using the “commandeered” hotmail address. In fact, I have heard rumor that there are people actively searching who is databases to find domains with hotmail and other free services used for the registration addresses. Beware!
