Those of us that have used Firefox for a long time have known it was going to be big. It has taken the rest of the world some time, but according to ITwire, (who have it from Janco), show that IE usage has dropped 10% down to 63.9 and Firefox has risen to 17.4%.
Fantastic news for those of us who want an open standards compliant Internet. Plus Firefox is just cool. 🙂
There are some other tidbits in the ITWire article, so have a read.

I only use IE 7 for two things:
1. to update windows when forced to (not so much of an issue now that they push the updated on you)
and
2. to make sure pages look okay there when doing design work.
That is pretty much it. I love firefox and I love the plug-in’s more. IE finally does RSS and tabs, but they are playing catch-up on functionality. Still 63.9 is a significant majority market share so we obviously don’t have everyone convinced.
